A. A preliminary major subdivision approval shall expire and become null and void five (5) years after the date of final action by the Hearing Examiner.

B. The City Council may grant one (1) extension of the preliminary subdivision approval for a period not to exceed three (3) years; provided, that the applicant submits a written request for an extension at least sixty (60) calendar days before the expiration date.
